As part of World Jamboree on the Trail day, four colonies from Birstall, Dewsbury West, 1st Mirfield and 8th Mirfield set off from Oakwell Hall country park in Birstall and completed a two and a quarter hour trek which took them to the Spen Valley.

They finished up at the miniature railway in Royds Park, Littletown, which is run by the Spenborough Model Engineers, where they tucked into a picnic lunch and then enjoyed two hours of train rides around the railway circuit.

They also got the chance to try out the new carriage which the group has bought after securing funding from the Spen Valley Area Committee.

As well as being able to accommodate large numbers of passengers, the carriage has disabled access so that wheelchair users can also enjoy rides on the train.

Afterwards the 40 Beavers and the 20 leaders and parents walked back to Oakwell Hall.
