Shoppers to benefits from new bus route

A new bus service is being set up to take shoppers to two of the most popular shopping centres.

Starting in February, The 214 will travel between Birstall Retail Park and the White Rose Shopping Centre.

The new service, which will run between 9am and 4pm on an hourly basis, is supported by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and has been welcomed by Coun Neil Dawson who has campaigned for the new route.

He said: “I know there is a need for this service and the fact that it has now been introduced by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority

is great news.

“It is an issue that has been raised many times by residents at my surgeries, and I am pleased that my campaigning on their behalf has been successful. Both these shopping centres should be available to everyone, not just people who have cars.

“Public transport is also a big environmental benefit for everyone.”

The 214 will travel from Birstall Retail Park to Morley town centre and onto the White Rose Centre.
