A Spen teenager who underwent major surgery has made it to the ball!
Victoria Jackson, of Brookfields Avenue, Scholes, was given a makeover fit for a queen by Revive salon in Heckmondwike for Whitcliffe Mount’s Year 11 prom after recovering from a brain operation.
Victoria was found to have an abscess on her brain last November, and had to have emergency surgery at Leeds General Infirmary.
But after a successful recovery, she was able to return to school for the beginning of this year, and achieved eight A-C passes at GCSE, including an A* in PE.
She said: “I was kept in hospital until Christmas Eve,” she said. “I was so glad to get back and see everyone at school, and to be given this makeover by Revive was really nice!
“With big operations like that, you don’t really know how serious they are until much later when you have a chance to think about them. I would like to thank all the neurosurgeon at LGI.”
Victoria, 16, is now an apprentice stylist at Renny Taylor salon in Brighouse, and thought the prom was a fitting way to say goodbye to her classmates.
She said: “The prom was wonderful – it was very emotional to see so many people for the last time and say goodbye before we go separate ways.”
