Kirklees Council released its three-year spending plans last month with the aim of letting the public play a part and help suggest alternative ways to deliver services.

The consulation will run in two phases. The first concerns issues like the level of council tax, whether the council should sell its assets, and build more homes and business spaces to increase income.

It includes whether members of the public support the core objectives behind the plans – early intervention and prevention, protecting health and wellbeing, and economic resilience. This will run from Monday September 8 for four weeks.

The second consultation is on specific budget options, and runs for six weeks from Monday October 27.

Cabinet member for resources Coun Graham Turner said a £69 million needed saving over the next three years.
