PUPILS learned how to cross the road safely at Norristhorpe School.
The children were given road safety lessons after classmate Joshua Butler was knocked down outside school.
Joshua was waiting to cross with his mum Julie and brother Robert outside the school in September. He stepped out before he had looked both ways.
Despite suffering serious head injuries he made an excellent recovery and is now back at school full time.
Teaching assistant Adele Bradford said: “Officers from Kirklees Council came to teach the pupils how to find a safe place to cross the road so they could see both ways.
“They taught them how to cross in between parked cars and how to look for traffic coming in both directions. They explained about the roads and how cars could come on any side of the road.”
