Teenager robbed in broad daylight

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was pushed off his bike and robbed in broad daylight.

The 16 year-old boy was cycling along the greenway in Heckmondwike between the bus depot and Morrisons when he was pushed off his Whistle mountain bike by a stranger, who then rode off with it.

The incident happened at around 5.10pm on Thursday, August 6.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 30-40 years, about 5ft 8ins tall, skinny with thinning brown hair, which appeared to be full of dust.

He had stubble and was wearing grey shorts, a grey t-shirt that may have had a design or writing in the middle, and a black rucksack.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton of Kirklees District CID, said:

“This offence took place when it was still light and I am sure someone will have seen this happen.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area between 5pm and 5.30pm and may have seen the suspect prior to the incident, or anyone who saw someone of similar description riding a bike in the area to come forward.”
