'The community have had a huge loss': Tributes for man who died after Dewsbury explosion
The property on Crescent Walk, Ravensthorpe, exploded at around 11.30am yesterday and was almost completely destroyed after the front of house exploded as it caught fire.
The man, known locally as Munir Hussain, has been praised by Independent candidate for Dewsbury West, Tanisha Bramwell, who said the news is “heartbreaking”.

Hide AdShe said: “I’ve spoken with local people and the community have had a huge loss.
“I’m offering my support to anyone who needs advice, or someone to talk to during this difficult time.
“I also want to express my deepest condolences to him and his family, may he rest in peace.”
Julie Holmes, who lives in Batley, said: "Lovely man, rip my friend."

Hide AdDetective Inspector James Bellhouse of Kirklees CID, said: “Tragically, a man who was seriously injured in the fire has died in hospital.
“Work has been ongoing on site by partners to make the property and surrounding houses safe as we continue to investigate the cause of this explosion.
“While those enquiries will take time we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances at this stage.”
Along with emergency services, the Health and Safety Executive and Northern Gas have launched an investigation into the ‘very serious’ incident.

Hide AdAnother man received treatment at the scene after he was struck by debris, and was later taken to hospital with injuries deemed non life-threatening, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.
The incident required fire crews from Mirfield, Dewsbury, Rastrick, Ossett, and Morley.
Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact Kirklees CID on 101, referencing police log 401 of March 31 2020.
