This cannot be right

Through this newspaper I would like to ask Simon Reevell some questions on behalf of all of his constituents and the taxpayers in Dewsbury and Mirfield.

Is it true that for two working weeks, from Tuesday January 4 to Friday January 14, you were in Crown Court representing a man convicted of strangling woman just yards from her one-year-old daughter instead of being in Parliament or in the Dewsbury constituency working for us?

Do you think it is acceptable to take a £66,000 full-time MPs salary and then to be earning tens of thousands of pounds as a barrister?

Do you not agree it is immoral that you are taking a taxpayer salary from January 4 to 14 as an MP, even though you are patently not doing the MP’s job during that period because you are actually getting a taxpayer salary for being a defence barrister in Crown Court?

Not to mention the many weeks of additional preparation time to ensure you are well briefed prior to setting foot in court.

If the above is true then nowhere else would this morally corrupt practice be acceptable? Anyone caught moonlighting from their job and being paid for a second job would be sacked on the spot and I think Simon Reevell will also have to be sacked.
