Thousands of pounds worth of equipment stolen in spate of burglaries

Police are appealing for information after thousands of pounds worth of tools and equipment has been stolen during a series of burglaries in Dewsbury.

A number of burglaries took place in the Hanging Heaton area of Dewsbury on 19 June, a with suspects targeting Bywell Road, Syke Ings Terrace, Leeds Road and Old Bank Road. 

During these incidents, a significant amount of tools and a Ford Transit van were stolen.

The vehicle was later recovered on Co-operative Street, in Chickenley. 

PC Sarah Culley, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information about these incidents in Dewsbury. 

“A significant amount of equipment has been stolen for a number of properties in the area and we would be keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or have any information to contact the police to assist with our enquiries. 

“Equally, I would ask that anyone who has seen items such as those pictured for sale or been invited to buy them to come forward.

“Witnesses who saw the Transit van in Chickenley have described a man leaving the vehicle as either Eastern European or Iraqi.”
