Tiffany’s class on song for

A fitness fanatic who has spent a decade perfecting specialist exercise classes for women has received national recognition for her efforts.

Tiffany Clark, from Churwell, set up SxeFit Studios in 2005 and has now been nominated for a prestigious gong at the National Fitness Awards next month.

The business, which is now based in Heckmondwike, will go toe to toe against fitness centres from across the country in the Ladies Only Gym category.

Tiffany, 34, said: “I’m really excited to have been nominated. I’ve been in the industry for 10 years and to be recognised for the work I do is really amazing.

“The building in Heckmondwike was completely derelict when I took it over three years ago and I’ve now got 80 members.”

The studio was originally based in Harrogate, before later moving to Morley and then once more to its current premises.

And Tiffany says her work with gym-goers, which includes activities like pole dancing, is focused on long-term objectives and staying fit in body and mind for life, rather than the short-term slimming solutions offered by other such gyms.

“My classes are about building confidence and exercises that work alongside their minds,” Tiffany added.

“It’s not just about losing weight, it’s about being in it for the long haul and developing them as people.

“I like being at the front of the class and leading. I don’t get them to do anything I wouldn’t do, but I’m all about results. I like to be with them so I can monitor them and talk to them and build them up.”

The glitzy award ceremony takes place in Leicester on December 4, and will be presented by personal trainer and 2014 Apprentice contestant Katie Bulmer-Cooke. More than 700 guests are expected to attend.

On SxeFit’s website, Tiffany describes the Alfred Street-based studio as perfect for “people who want to enjoy a healthy life, full of energy, enthusiasm and a strong, toned and defined body to go with it.”

She does however admit that it’s not for everyone, describing the regime as “intense”.

The National Fitness awards will include prizes dished out in 19 different categories.
