Howarth Timber and Building Supplies, which has branches in Liversedge and Dewsbury, has signed up to Decision2day, which helps customers connect with trusted tradesmen.

The website allows people to enter their postcode and choose from several recommended contractors in their area, complete with reviews of their previous work.

Customers can also add details of work they need carrying out to the website for tradesmen to respond to directly.

Dewsbury and Liversedge’s Howarth Timber branches will be among the first listed on the Yorkshire-based website, alongside the company’s Leeds and Wakefield sites.

The deal with Decision2day will then be rolled out across Yorkshire and beyond later this year.

Antony Green, who founded the website with his wife Sam, said he learned from his own experiences in the building trade that many people feared rogue tradesmen when planning home improvements.

He said: “We have spent the last 18 months developing and differentiating our offering from other trades websites and building new partnerships with related businesses, such as Howarth Timber which is a key player.”
