A HECKMONDWIKE dad’s flapjack recipe has been chosen by top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli to appear on a margarine company’s website.
Richard Boughey, from Heckmondwike, submitted his recipe for Ready Set Go Flapjacks through Flora Cuisine’s Facebook page – and it was one of 30 selected for inclusion in Flora’s downloadable cookbook by Jean-Christophe and a team of Flora judges.
Richard said: “I do a lot of cycling and gym work and it’s expensive to buy the special recovery bars and drinks, given the number of times a week I’m out on the bike or working out in the gym. Partially as a way of saving money and partially so that I could make the most of the exercise, I looked into ways of making my own recovery bars and drinks so I started experimenting, and actually I still am!
“Out of all of that came the Ready Set Go Flapjacks.
“They’re cheap, easy to make and just as important, easy to carry. I’m so pleased to hear Jean-Christophe liked it and I’m looking forward to seeing it in print.”
Jean-Christophe said: “It was a privilege to judge this nationwide competition, and see first-hand just how much cooking talent and skill there is out there. Richard’s Ready Set Go Flapjacks were utterly delicious – the perfect treat for active families.”
He was also impressed by the recipe’s originality, ease of preparation, taste and appearance.
