Horses rescued as firefighters tackle farm building fires

Firefighters had to rescue two horses and tackle a series of building fires at a farm in Morley.

Crews from Morley attended the incident at 11.30pm on Saturday night on Hepworth Avenue, Churwell.

Appliances from Batley, Leeds and Hunslet also attended as the fires were sectioned off.

Potentially explosive cylinders which were involved in the blaze had to be cooled using covering jets.

The fire was extinguished using five breathing apparatus, two large jets, five hand held jets and a ground monitor.

A Technical Rescue Unit from Cleckheaton along with specialist and supporting officers also attended as they removed a wall to rescue the two horses.

A vet arrived at the farm to examine the animals.

A fire investigation team are at scene to establish a cause.
