Two Dewsbury babies born on Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Naomi Hooley and Fozia Zaman both gave birth to baby boys on June 2 as the nation celebrated the Queen’s 60th year on the throne.

Miss Hooley, of Pickard Way, Dewsbury, gave birth to baby Xavier at 4.57am at Dewsbury and District Hospital. The birth came five days later than she and her partner, Mark Wolson, had expected.

But after a six hour labour, Xavier arrived happy and healthy, just in time to enjoy the royal celebrations.

“I went home that same day so I still got to watch the jubilee on TV,” said 24-year-old Miss Hooley.

“Xavier has been brilliant, he’s a really good baby. He’s quite quiet and quite content.”

Anas Ali Zaman was another late arrival who finally made an appearance on June 2.

He was nine days late when he was born at Dewsbury by Caesarean section at 11.15am, weighing 8lb 6oz.

Mrs Zaman, 27, said: “I went through so much with him. We had some real drama.”

But the pair are both well and settling in at the family home in The Avenue, Staincliffe.

Mrs Zaman added: “His brother and sister were very excited. His sister wants to pick him up all the time!”
