Two men arrested on roof of Dewsbury Poundstretcher store

Two men were arrested in the early hours of this morning after breaking in to a Poundstretcher store in Dewsbury.

Police were called to the store, at Railway Street, at around 2.40am after the intruder alarm was activated.

When officers arrived they could hear crashing about inside the store and the two men, aged 22 and 28, fled to the roof to escape but were arrested.

Police said the intruders caused damage to gain entry to the store.

A police dog was also deployed inside the building and the fire brigade were called in case of access issues.
