Tofts Road will now be open for the duration of the current gas works in Westgate, after the road was originally earmarked for closure during the summer.
Northern Gas Networks had decided they would close the street to make access easier for workers at the site in Westgate.
But the company said that, after this month’s consultation with residents at Cleckheaton’s town hall, they have decided to keep Tofts Road open for the duration of the works.
Stuart Armin, customer operations manager for NGN said: “Following the drop-in session, we have taken onboard concerns that were aired by key stakeholders, and have made some alterations to our traffic management plans.
“Tofts Road will no longer need to be closed for the duration of the £98,000 gas mains replacement project.”
Northern Gas Networks is also offering loss of business application forms to businesses in the area of the works which feel they have been directly affected by the road closure.
Successful applications could be given compensation for any loss of profit during the works which will run until September 1.
Any business near or in Westgate who feel they have lost trade as a result of the works, can contact NGN on 0845 634 0508 to ask for a form.
