Heckmondwike Grammar headteacher praises 'exceptional' students after GCSE results

Students at Heckmondwike Grammar are once again to be congratulated for their outstanding successes at GCSE.

The School, on High Street, saw all of its Year 11 students secure at least five 'good' GCSE grades.

There were also 79% of students who achieved five or more GCSEs at grade 9-7, and additionally, 58% of Year 11 students secured eight or more GCSEs at grade 9-7.

Headteacher Peter Roberts said: "Our headline figure of 9-7 grades is 73%, which is very pleasing.

"There are also some exceptional individual stories. Well done to Anna Calvert, Hannah Grason and Caitlin Tansey, who all achieved an impressive ten GCSEs at grade 9.

"Additionally, congratulations to Olivia Helliwell, Claudia Lai and Freya Pugh, who all achieved eleven GCSEs at grade eight and nine.

"These excellent results do not just happen automatically. They are evidence of the exceptional commitment and determination of Heckmondwike’s students who received outstanding support from the dedicated staff and hugely supportive parents."

Some overall statistics include:

76 students with ten or more 9-7 grades

105 students with eight or more 9-7 grades

143 students with five or more 9-7 grades

"My congratulations and well done to you all," said Mr Roberts.
