A nationwide search to find the most kind, helpful and considerate youngster in the UK has found its ‘Magik Girl’ in Liversedge.
Emily Jones, 12, was nominated by her mum Sharon because of the strength and kindness she’d shown to the family, particularly her grandmother, in the wake of her grandfather’s death last July.
The competition was organised by pen manufacturer uni-ball to celebrate the launch of its new Magik Girl pen.
The company gave visitors to its Facebook page the chance to nominate a girl who they felt demonstrated kindness, good behaviour or exceptional helpfulness.
Emily said: “Sadly, last year my Granddad died of cancer and this was a really sad time for me and my family.
Since then I have got closer to my Nan and we have spent a lot of time together.
“We enjoy baking and cooking together and I enjoy going to bingo with Nan at our local club.”
Emily’s mum Sharon said: “Emily has really looked after her Nan since her granddad died.
“She is a really special person, very loving and extremely giving. She stays over every weekend to keep her company. She really deserves this special treat!”
Emily, who is a year 7 pupil at Whitcliffe Mount High School, won a trip for her and her mum to Liverpool to enjoy a night in a spa hotel with relaxing treatments as well as a set of Magik Girl pens.
