Update on local £1m lottery fund projects

This week’s Big Local Partnership Meeting heard that the total approved spending for the first year of the project was £105,703.

Representatives from cycling and bike recycling project Street Bikes and sports project Set reported to the meeting on the numbers of people that had attended their projects and how effective they had been at targeting people within the specified area of Dewsbury Moor.

Rev Kathy Robertson, who chaired the meeting, said: “We should not detract from the great work being done.”

An ICT training project was allocated £6,586 in funds from the project for Q1 and £2471 for Q2, but none had yet been spent due to delays.

Set, which ran sports projects for children during the summer, spent £4047, during Q1 and had not yet spent any the £6,492 that had been allocated for Q2.

Street Bikes, which works with a range of people of different age groups and abilities, spent the £4,720 it had been allocated for Q1 and £4,410 for Q2.

None of the £4,000 that was allocated to Quick Wins for Q1 and Q2 had been spent as the scheme was yet to make awards.

£25,000 was spent for the purchase of a brick press programme.

£5,300 had been allocated for community enterprise for Q1, with none spent, and £5,300 for Q2, of which £1,345 had been spent.£100 had been spent on partnership administration in Q1 and Q2

A total of £36,376.50 had been allocated for all of the projects for Q3 and Q4.

Dewsbury Moor was one of 50 areas across the country to be given a grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Big Local Trust in 2010.

Mrs Robertson said the future of the project was up to the residents of Dewsbury Moor.
