UPDATE: Man in court over Batley shooting

A 25-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning (Wednesday) for three consecutive nights of gunfire in Batley over the weekend.

Tahbassum Hussain has been charged with firearms offences in connection with the incidents, which are all connected.

Police said another two men had been arrested for the shootings which took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

One man remains in police custody, and the rest have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

All men, arrested on suspicion of firearm and criminal damage offences, are aged between 18 and 28.

The first shooting happened in the early hours of Saturday morning, at around 12.15am, on Manor Way in Staincliffe.

The following morning, at 4.45am, a house in nearby Hawthorne Avenue was targeted.

And on Monday morning a house on Conway Crescent was shot at 1.54am.

Windows and doors at each property were damaged in the incidents, which police are connecting.

No-one was injured.
