Two men are being sought by police after a cash robbery in Scholes.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said he believed security men had been filling up an ATM in the shop, and rumours one of the guards was hit on his helmet with an axe were circulating in the village.

He said: “I was getting out of a taxi just before the Co-op and I saw some guys running out of the shop and went round the corner and jumped into a car which sped off.

“The car was later found burnt out in the Whitechapel area of Cleckheaton. I waited around until the police arrived.

“Everyone is really shocked by what has happened.”

Police believe two suspects were using a light coloured metallic Ford Focus. Officers want to hear from anyone in the area around the time who saw the occupants of a vehicle fitting this description acting suspiciously.
