Victory boosts Moor’s title hopes

Dewsbury Moor 48

Ossett Trinty 10

DEWSBURY Moor boosted their hopes of finishing top of Pennine Division One East thanks to a handsome derby victory over Ossett last Saturday.

Moor’s forwards took an early grip on the game and when they gathered a loose ball, good work from Dyson and Maun, set up a try for Johnson, converted by Andy Robinson.

Stand-off Dyson was at the heart of Moor’s attacks, bringing Eatherley, O’Brian and Simpson into the game for Mortimer to score.

When Ossett threatened, Peter Robinson, Jackson and Simpson kept them at bay with good tackles on Bond and Steel.

Again Ossett lost possession and Dyson chipped over and collected his own kick to score before Hardaker crossed soon after to extend Moor’s lead.

Although the pitch was cutting up, Trinity’s Akaidere showed great pace to race the length of the field for his side’s first try but he was sent off soon after following a skirmish.

Moor regained control and Wilson ploughed through the mud to score and Andy Robinson converted.

Although Ossett hit back with Green scoring their second try, Moor capped a fine performance and deserved win when Smith completed the scoring.

Dyson ran the show but good support came from Peter Robinson, Simpson, Maun and O’Brian.
