VIDEO: Man spooks trick-or-treaters with chainsaw prank

A man decided to turn the tables on a group of trick-or-treaters who came to his property this year by hiding behind his car and scaring them with his alter ego ‘Chainsaw man’.

Paul Newman, who works as an electrician, carried out his prank on Saturday after putting on a surgical gown and a mask and a wig.

For his ‘chainsaw’, Mr Newman used a disc cutter with the blade removed.

The 34-year-old said all the groups of children who were scared by him received sweets afterwards and he said none of the parents, many of whom he knew, were unhappy about his actions.

He said: “I just thought it would be a bit of fun. I hid behind the car with the disc cutter, which did not have a blade in it and then when I moved the security light came on.

“I then stood in silhouette and the kids ran off screaming. There was a steady stream of trick-or-treaters from 5.30pm to 7.15pm.

“We made sure that all the kids got sweets afterwards and none of them were upset. A lot of them I knew as they are friends with my children.”
