The yellow ‘be aware’ warning for snow is valid for Yorkshire and the Humber from 6pm this afternoon, until 12pm on Wednesday (January 14).
Showers are expected to fall from Monday evening into Tuesday and are likely above about 100m.
The Met Office says that from tonight there will be scattered and wintery showers with a touch of frost by tomorrow morning. Temperatures are expected to fall to 0c.
On Tuesday, the wintery showers are to continue, heavy in places.
Gale force winds are set to continue throughout the rest of the week.
