Week of fun to celebrate faith in Kirklees

FROM cooking to folk art, plays to oil painting, Interfaith Week offers enlightening experiences for all.

From November 18 to 27, a celebration of faith and the work of interfaith groups will sweep across Kirklees, giving people the chance to learn more about different religions and their customs.

A series of free community events will offer activities from Diwali-themed dance taster sessions to Jewish cooking and Advent wreath making.

Faith leaders from across Kirklees will also host a question and answer session at the University of Huddersfield and a Faith Share meeting will explore the wide range of faiths and religions practiced in the district.

Organised by Kirklees Faiths Forum, the annual event is part of National Interfaith Week, with similar celebrations of faith taking place around the UK.

The week will be kicked off with Mitzvah Day, a day of voluntary service based on the Jewish values of taking care of the world and each other through social action projects.

The forum is also holding its annual ’Pledge a Pound’ fundraiser to encourage people raise awareness of heart disease and improve their own health and fitness at the same time.
