Yorkshire Cat Rescue appeals for more foster carers

Yorkshire Cat Rescue fosterer Barbara Brotherton promised potential new recruits that the rewards would outweigh the effort.

Barbara, who lives in Chickenley, said: “The Dewsbury and Huddersfield area is crying out for more foster homes and I’d urge more cat lovers to give it a try.

“You’ll have the full support of the charity and share some very special moments – and I promise you it will be one of the best things you’ve ever done.

“Fostering takes an investment of time and emotion but what you get back is worth it tenfold. When you say goodbye you know that they will be a going to a good home and that there is another abandoned cat out there that needs you. That’s what it’s all about.”

The charity has taken in more than 160 cats and kittens since the turn of the year, and needs more people to come forward to foster them while they look for permanent homes.

Centre manager Sam Davies said cats and kittens were placed in suitable foster homes according to the carer’s level of experience.

“There is no need for potential foster carers to worry that they will find themselves out of their depth,” she said.

“We choose placements carefully and are always here to offer advice and support through our foster buddy system, no matter what time of day or night.”
