Young footballers clinch league title
Battyeford Under 11s A team were mauled 5-1 by Ossett Albion on a rainy pitch away from home.
But a stunning run a form led to the youngsters beating a path to the very top of the Huddersfield Junior Football League’s Second Division table.

Hide AdThe players remarkable run included 11 wins out of 11 games, with the team scoring 76 goals and conceding just 21.
Coach Glenn Lamont said: “The players have been a pleasure to coach and some of the football has been a joy to watch.
“For me the biggest positive is that their development has been in all corners of junior football.”
Battyeford’s title hopes almost evaporated when they found themselves trailing 2-0 in the final game of the season against Brighouse Terriers.

Hide AdWith the league title hanging in the balance, the youngsters rallied together and won the game 9-3.
The team was promoted to the league’s First Division.
Mr Lamont added: “To put aside feelings of anxiety, nerves and fear having gone 2-0 down and continue to try and play football is an example of their resilience, determination and motivation that has been growing throughout the season.”
