Young girl seriously injured after Mirfield crash

A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Mirfield this afternoon (Saturday).

Firefighters from Mirfield and Dewsbury were called to Liley Lane, Upper Hopton, at around 2.20pm.

A white Vauxhall Combo van and silver Renault Clio car collided, leaving the car turned on its roof.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said all occupants managed to get out of the car before emergency services arrived at the scene.

A 12-year-old girl was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from a serious hand injury. Other occupants sustained minor injuries only.

A police spokesperson asked any witnesses to the incident to call West Yorkshire Police quoting log number 897 of the 28/11.
