Music festival was town’s shining light

Every single person who attended the free music festival in Heckmondwike town centre last Saturday should feel very proud for making it such a special happy magical event.

Over 10 hours Green Park was packed.

Thank you to this paper for promoting the event.

Thanks to Pete Earnshaw and his superb tech crew for operating the two stages.

Thanks to Jacky Stringer and her hardworking team of litter pickers and just about every festival goer who helped them to keep the park tidy throughout the day.

Thanks to Kirklees Council for providing the core funding for a third year running. Without it there simply wouldn’t be a festival.

Finally, thanks to every one of the 18 superb acts who performed on the day entirely free of charge.

Although most of the day was manic for me, it was a great pleasure to present the festival to a happy friendly audience of all ages. You did the town proud.

Fingers crossed for next year. Get July 19 in your diaries now!
