Nursing 25 years of fond memories

I have just retired from my job as a community nurse after working in the Spen Valley Area for 25 years.

It has been mainly in the Batley and Birkenshaw area, but the last eight years have been in the Cleckheaton and Liversedge area.

I would like to say thank you to my family, friends, colleagues, home cares and most of all the patients and for the lovely gifts I received.

Over this period of time I have met many different people I feel I have been very lucky to have shared many happy times and hope I managed to comfort them in their sad times.

Coincidentally, I was in the photograph in last week’s Guardian “Calendar date with nurses” as part of the Cleckheaton District Nursing Team which received the NHS Heroes Award.

A massive thank you to Kay Birmingham who nominated us – it was nice for me to go out on a high.

Also a huge thank you to all the patients and carers with whom I have shared many happy times, as well as the sad times.
