From today, Thursday November 5, the Spenborough Guardian and Dewsbury and Mirfield Reporter will be on sale one day earlier every week, switching from being in the shops on a Friday, to being on sale every Thursday.
This will bring the two newspapers in line with their sister title, the Batley News, which is currently on sale on a Thursday, and means that all three titles will be published on the same day of the week.
The decision has been made for two reasons.
Firstly, our advertisers and our readers have told us the extra day on sale before the weekend gives extra time for planning, whether that’s deciding what to do at the weekend, or where to go, to thinking about a special purchase, or a shopping trip.
For the house hunters, it gives even more time to plan the weekend viewings with the estate agents.
The second reason is based around the printing process. Because a lot of adverts are booked in all three newspapers, it is far more cost efficient to print these three newspapers in one single slot on the printing presses, rather than printing them separately as we do now.
All the advertising deadlines for the Dewsbury Reporter and the Spenbrough Guardian will stay the same as they are now.
