A GANG of youths piled a shopping trolley on top of a car belonging to a Tesco employee.

Police are hoping to identify seven teenagers caught on the supermarket’s CCTV system during the early hours of Saturday March 12.

They can be seen jumping on to the bonnet of the employee’s Vauxhall Astra, before one of the boys climbs on top of the car. He then drags a shopping trolley onto its roof, where he stands for a few minutes.

The youths damaged the wing mirrors and aerial on the car, leaving the owner with a costly repair bill.

The footage, filmed between 3.40am-3.50am goes on to show some of the boys jumping into shopping trolleys and spinning around the nearly empty car park.

They can then be seen near the cash points and after 10 minutes, the group leaves Tesco and travels towards Northgate.

The owner of the car has been left to foot the bill for the damaged caused, prompting a police appeal for information about the incident.

Officers from the Spen Valley Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) have increased patrols in the area.

PC Chris Birkenshaw said: “They were running riot and we want to try and trace these individuals. It’s surprising that the damage done to the car was so limited.”

The boy who stood on the car is slim with dark hair. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a grey V-neck jumped and white trainers.

Another member of the group wore grey jogging bottoms, a dark hood and had a small satchel bag slung over his shoulder.

The police believe that the group are aged between 15-18 and are investigating further CCTV footage from around Cleckheaton town centre.
