Battyeford Res clinch crown after Queens sink Mount Pleasant

Battyeford Reserves claimed the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Division Three title without kicking a ball after challengers third-placed Mount Pleasant suffered an 8-2 hammering at the hands of Queens Hotel.

Queens hit three goals in the first 10 minutes before Mount pulled a goal back. Queens then pulled clear to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Danny Stocks, Jamie Fawcett and Jason Miller all struck twice for Queens, who also scored through Mark Drake his first of the season and a spectacular long-range effort from Ryan Burton. MoM for Queens was Jason Elliott in a game well refereed by James Parker.

Raees Lorgat and Fayyaz Bobat replied for Mount Pleasant who cannot now catch the leaders.

White Horse lie second after completing their fixtures with a 5-1 win over Moorlands CC.

Dale Joy, Darren Williams, Dale Brook, Damien Lickess and David Bywater all netted for White Horse who are all but guaranteed a promotion place. Razeb Raja struck Moorlands’ consolation.

Joshua Wood fired a hat-trick as Punch Bowl won 7-1 against lowly Snowden. Harry Jones hit a brace, with Martyn Pearson and Kieran Johnson completing Punch Bowl’s tally.

Bilaal Salu hit Snowden’s consolation.

Batley Celtics won 6-2 at Overthorpe Town Reserves thanks to a Ricky Lister hat-trick, plus strikes from Rob Fleming, Jack Sowden and Dave Barlow. Joshua Blakeway and Tom Hirst replied for Overthorpe.
