Birkenshaw power to the HW Challenge Cup final

BIRKENSHAW maintained their hopes of a league and cup double as they stunned Premier Division side Navigation to win 4-2 in their Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup semi-final.

The newly crowned winners of the Championship Division triumphed in a fine tussle at Ings Lane Overthorpe last Sunday.

Michael Smith struck twice for Birkenshaw, who also had Lee Brook and Joel Farrar on target. Joshua Cooke and Dale Hanson replied for Navigation.

Birkenshaw will face St John Fisher in the final at Ossett Albion on Thursday May 17, kick off 7.30pm.

FC Pack Horse meet Batley Irish Nash on Sunday in the second Heavy Woollen Challenge Trophy semi-final. The game is at Ings Lane, Overthorpe, 10.30am kick-off, with the winners to meet Dewsbury Rangers in the final.
