Birkenshaw swoop to beat Valley and reach semi-final

Birkenshaw booked their place in the Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup semi-final with a 3-1 win over Woodkirk Valley last Sunday.

Liam Fox, Jack Rogerson and Danny Walding scored to see Birkenshaw through, with Chris Maguire replying for Woodkirk.

Birkenshaw meet Millbridge WMC in the semi-final after they defeated Birstall St Patricks 7-2 as Luke Sherman bagged a hat-trick.

Joe Kenzitt (two), Joe Hanson and an own goal made up the Millbridge tally, with Birstall replying through Sam Tyrell and Tom Williams.

Mirfield Town cruised to a 9-0 victory over Ravenswharfe in their quarter-final as Michael Rounding led the way with a hat-trick, Kieran Corley and Sam Atkinson hit two apiece, with Gibril Bojang and Niall Wood completing the tally.

Rose of York booked their place in the Heavy Woollen Challenge Trophy semi-final with a 6-4 victory over Snowdon.

Andrew Asquith (brace), Matthew Bolton, Dean Vernon, Jordan Brook and Courtney March struck for Rose, who will play Batley Irish Nash in the last four.

Nash won 5-2 at Field Head thanks to a Shaun Housecroft double plus strikes from Aiden Foster, Tom Yarnold and Elliott Williams.

Josh Cooke hit a double and Robert Evans bagged the other as Old Bank WMC won 3-0 against Saville Arms to book a semi-final place against Birkenshaw Reserves, who won 7-1 at Six Lane Ends.

Owen Asquith led the Birkenshaw attack with a hat-trick, while there were further goals from Nathan Foster, Tom Smith, Ryan Hird and Liam Gowen.

St John Fisher’s forray into this season’s FA Sunday Cup came to an end as they suffered a 5-3 defeat to Walton Park Rose and Crown at Ossett Albion.

Fisher have won their opening six matches in the HW Sunday League Premier Division and are two points clear st the top.

Fisher travel to Millbridge in the Brook Butler Cup this Sunday, entertain White Eagles in the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup on December 6 and meet Heckmondwike SC in the HW Challenge Cup on December 13.
