Bordman hat-trick dumps holders out

ST John Fisher bounced back from their defeat to Oyster Martyrs in the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup when they sent West Riding County Cup holders Halton Moor crashing out with a terrific win last week.

Halton Moor appeared on course to reach the fourth round as they led 2-1 going into the latter stages.

Fisher’s star man Rob Bordman equalised with his second goal 10 minutes from full-time and then bagged the winner with just three minutes remaining to complete his hat-trick.

Fisher are joined in the fourth round by fellow Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division side Thornhill Lees, who defeated Yeadon Veterans 4-0.

The other Heavy Woollen interest came to an end as Dewsbury Rangers bowed out 2-0 away to King George and Birkenshaw lost 4-2 after extra time at Peel Park, when the sides had been locked 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Oakenshaw also saw their involvement end, losing 2-1 at home to AFC Hanover Arms, while Wyke Wanderers suffered a 4-1 defeat to Bradford Skip Hire.

Black Horse overcame Old Ball as Richard Burke headed home Mark Wigley’s corner in the first half for the game’s only goal.

Black Horse were under the cosh after the break but MoM Shaun Hartley marshalled his defence well, while Jordon Miller pulled off some great saves in goal.

Battyeford Reserves are also through to the fourth round after three extra-time goals without reply saw them defeat Thornton United Reserves 6-3, after the sides were level 3-3 after 90 minutes.

The Heavy Woollen duo are joined by Junction Wyke, who overcame Keighley Athletic 4-2.

Overthorpe Sports bowed out, losing 3-1 at home to Inter Athletic.

Inter’s Warren Brook was sent off for kicking out early in the game but it was the visitors who took the lead through Kieran Ryan.

Overthorpe levelled when a defender handled on the line and Andy Godding converted the penalty but second half goals from John Conheeney and the impressive Dean Wharam saw Inter into the fourth round.

St John Fisher Reserves bowed out 5-2 at home to Acton Athletic.

n Wyke Wanderers suffered a 2-1 defeat at Tyersal in the WR (Saturday) Challenge Cup third round but Spen Valley League side BD3 United reached the fourth round of the WR County Trophy, defeating Tyersal Reserves 4-1 on penalties.
