Boys' team rise to challenge and tackle Mount Snowdon

The Boys were raising funds towards the team’s trip to Butlins, Skegness, in May, where they will take part in the Leeds Rhinos Challenge festival.

The youngsters faced an 11km walk, climbing the 3,560 foot Snowdon, which had eight inches of snow at the summit, with 40mph gusts of wind and a wind chill factor of -10 degrees.

The team, along with their Snowdon climb leader, set off just after 11am and had ascended the notoriously tricky Pyg Track by 2.40pm which is an outstanding achievement in the conditions.

Having spent time at the top, the Boys’ descent took them down the Llandberis Pass.

The team thanked leader Andrew who guided them up the mountain, along with coaches Daz, Danny, Simon and Daniel for organising and supporting the climb.

Parents and grandparents Steph, Graham, Tom and Will, who also completed the climb.

The 15-strong squad received sponsorship from sportswear and workware manufacture Xamax, who provided them all with snow coats for the Snowdon Challenge.

The club also thanks everyone who has donated sponsorship towards the team’s trip.

Batley Boys Under-12s are looking for new players to strengthen their squad.

Training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the artificial pitch next to Mount Pleasant, from 5.30pm until 7pm.
