Cleckheaton are targeting a trio of important away games during March as they continue their fight for survival in National Three North.

The Moorenders lie third-bottom but are just two points away from climbing out of the relegation zone as they travel to Sheffield on Saturday (3pm).

It signals the start of a month which will also see the Moorenders travel to fellow strugglers Stockport and mid-table Rossendale.

Cleckheaton have won only once on the road this season, at Burnage on January 23, but they will look to build on an encouraging run of form which has seen them win three of their last four matches.

Sheffield lie fifth in the table and have won six of their nine matches on home midden but the Moorenders are not without hope having pushed them all the way before losing 20-19 in November.

Cleckheaton showed the battling qualities needed in their survival fight when they overcame Ilkley 17-13 a fortnight ago, despite being reduced to 13 men at one stage.

Richard Piper scored twice and Matt Piper added a crucial try late on, while Ronan Evans’ kicking was also a key factor.
