Conference high fliers too strong for Crossbank

Crossbank Methodists slipped to a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Bradford League Conference high fliers Oulton last Saturday.

Oulton remain just one point behind leaders Jer Lane after their latest success.

Louis Bentley (34no), Christian Duncan (35) and James Lord (30) all made good starts but were unable to capitalise as Crossbank were bowled out for 187 with Ben Child (4-39) and Jack Andrews (3-36) doing most of the damage.

Will Harrison (71no) and Matt Boucher (72no) shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 112 in reply to see Oulton to victory.

Raqeeb Younis hit his third century of the season to propel leaders Jer Lane to a five-wicket win over Gildersome & Farnley Hill.

Younis struck seven sixes and 11 fours as his side eased past Gildersome & Farnley Hill’s score of 180 in which Gethin Clarke made 50 as Gurdev Singh picked up 5-35.

Rodley recorded the division’s highest total of 265-8 as they defeated Heckmondwike & Carlinghow by 32 runs.

The highlight of their win was a rapid 92 from just 48 balls by Louie Stronach. He smashed five sixes and seven fours and built on the earlier work of Lachlan Roache (48) and Dann Pritchett (35).

Ahmed Butt made a spirited 62 and Umar Qureshi (46) as Heckmondwike & Carlinghow replied with 233-9. Gary Sagar (4-77) and Roache (3-36) were the pick of the Rodley bowlers.
