Fell produces fine all-round effort as lowly Spen give leaders Keighley a scare

Spen belied their lowly league position as Josh Fell (3-31) and Rob Warriner (3-60) helped reduce Keighley to 58-6.

Max Davidson (54) and Paul Quinlan (42) led a recover which enabled them to post 200.

Fell (43) and Adam Brown (38) made useful contributions for Spen, but they were bowled out for 163.

Adam Greenwood (3-26), Hammy Shahzad (3-48) and Quinlan (3-55) did the damage.

Birstall suffered a shock three-wicket defeat to bottom team Liversedge.

Birstall were bowled out for 126 as Peter Gregersen (51) was the only batsman to get going.

Liversedge were forced to work hard for their runs but got home with seven wickets down thanks largely toa half century from Mark Hydes.

Hopton Mills sli[pped to an agonising two-wicket defeat by Altofts.

Ashley Mackereth struck 73 in a Hopton total of 184 all out.

Micky Carroll (4-53) and Mackereth (3-51) threatened to win the game for Hopton but Farroukh Alam (64) and Matthew Bishop (59) shared a crucial 92-run partnership for the fourth wicket as it provided a platform for Altofts to scrape home.

East Ardsley’s struggles continued with a five -wicket defeat by Buttershaw St Paul’s.

Matthew Redgwick (43no) and Haseen Bashir (37) led the way for East Ardsley as they were restricted to 203-8.

Kian Phillipson claimed 3-17 and Amer Ayoub (3-69) before St Pauls eased to their target with 17.5 overs to spare.

Paul Carroll top scored with 80, while Ayoub followed up his efforts with the ball by making 64 as St Pauls secured a comfortable win.

Northowram Fields suffered a 10-run defeat against Brighouse.

The visitors made 267-6 with Sohail Hussain (85) and Tanvir Bashir (67) sharing a 113-run fourth-wicket partnership.

Jason Slator (74) and Jonny Lister (70) added 134 for Northowram’s fourth wicket but they were bowled out for 257 as Abid Awain (4-45) and Quadratullah Aziz (3-58) shone,
