Hartshead slip back towards relegation zone after crushing defeat to leaders

Despite featuring in one of Saturday’s matches to start at 1pm, it was still finished in time to watch England’s World Cup quarter-final and lasted just 23 overs in total.

Zeeshan Qasim (5-19) and Craig Wiseman (4-28) shot Hartshead out for just 49 and Undercliffe took just 5.5 overs to knock off the runs with Michael Kelsey scoring 34 not out.

Hartshead are now just seven points clear of second-bottom Ossett, who defeated bottom side Yeadon to claim their first win of the season.

Captain Dan Busfield claimed 5-47 as Yeadon were dismissed for 149, with Dan Gormley battling for an unbeaten 71.

John Sadler (50no) and Joe Finnigan (38no) helped Ossett to a six-wicket win as spinner James Massheder took 4-38.

Hunslet Nelson boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop with a 16-run victory over Batley.

Opener Mohammed Iqbal (78) top scored as Nelson made 161 as Naveed Zamurad (4-35) and Musa Ahmed (3-49) did most of the damage.

Tariq Hussain (41) top scored in Batley’s reply but they were bowled out for 145 as Alex Rose took 4-43 and Danny Cross (3-39).

Gomersal slipped to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of third placed Morley.

They were bowled out for 130, in which Joel Pollard (36) top scored, as spinner Dave Nebard (4-37) and Henry Rush (3-12) did the damage.

Spinners Chris Rhodes (3-62) and Jonathan Boynton (3-43) caused a few flutters for Morley but a half-century by overseas player Sanga Cooray proved crucial as they edged home.

Victory leaves Morley seven points behind second placed Wrenthorpe, who were made to work hard for victory over Bankfoot.

Jonathan Rudge (7-18) and Awais Ejaz (3-30) combined to dismiss Bankfoot for 63.

James Lee took 6-21 in reply but Wrenthorpe edged home to seal an important win.

Pudsey Congs continued their recent good form with a 29-run win over Baildon.
