SPEN Victoria suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Heavy Woollen Cup holders Shepley last Sunday as they bowed out at the quarter-final stage.

Spen were reduced to 42-3 but then lost their final seven wickets for just 36 runs as they were skittled for just 78.

Ben Platt (17) and Daniel Shuffe (13) were the only Spen batsmen to make double figures as Greg Wood (2-7), Craig Glover (2-12) and Imran Shah (2-15) bowled impressive spells.

Shepley required just 16.4 overs to reach their target for the loss of five wickets as SP Singh top scored with 21.

Shepley will now meet the winners of Methley and Townville in the semis.
