Mount maintained their promotion challenge in Halifax League Division Two last Saturday after a 28-run victory over Bradley and Colne at Staincliffe.

Imran Rawat (45) top scored for Mount after they won the toss and elected to bat first but they were bowled out for 235.

Bradley and Colne received two extra overs having dismissed Mount early but they fell short of their target, finishing on 208-7 as Soyeb Gheewala was pick of the bowlers with 3- 57, while Banaras Siddique and Imran Rawat supported with two wickets apiece.

The incomplete win meant Mount A dropped a bowling point but they remain nine points clear at the top of the table with 115 points ahead of second place Luddendenfoot A.

Mount B maintained their title hopes in second teams Division One with an impressive eight-wicket win over Queensbury B.

Queensbury elected to bat and had former Pakistan Under-19 player A Sharif in superb form as he struck 171 out of his side’s total of 262 all out.

Siraj Patel claimed 4-48, which included the key wicket of Sharif, while Amjad Hussain supported with 3-75.

Mount’s reply did not get off to a good start, losing their first wicket with only 16 runs on the board.

Maqbul Patel got Mount back on track with a brisk 65 and shared a 107-run partnership with Mahmad Makda.

When Maqbul Patel was out, it brought Nazir Patel to the crease and he shared a brilliant 144-run stand with Makda as Mount overhauled their opponents total to win by eight wickets.

Nazir Patel narrowly missed out on his century as he finished 95 not out, while Mahmad Makda struck 82 not out.

The win leaves Mount B second, 12 points behind the leaders Shelf Northowram Hedge Top.
