Dan Hodgson (33), Patrick Kruger (28) and Ryan Cooper (27) had made useful contributions but were unable to go on to big scores in the face of some tight bowling.

Only a timely 48 not out from number nine batsman Matthew Lumb, who hit five sixes in a 23-ball innings, enabled Farsley to reach a more challenging total of 187-8

Scholes battled hard when they replied as opener Shoukat Ali (36) and Aditya Waghmode (27) contributed before Stansfield struck 33 from 30 balls.

When Stansfield was ninth man out it signalled the end of the Scholes challenge and they were bowled out for 164.

Opener Simon Lambert led the way for New Farnley with an unbeaten 110 as they compiled a total of 252-4, with Lee Goddard making 50 against his old club.

East Bierley crumbled to 73 all out in reply as Ajmal Shahzad (4-13) and Andrew Brewster (4-25) wrapped up another 20 points for their side.

Victory leaves New Farnley 11 points clear of Farsley, 16 ahead of Pudsey St Lawrence and 21 in front of fourth placed Hanging Heaton as the title race takes shape.

Bierley are now 48 points adrift at the foot of the table, with just one win from their opening 14 games, and the South View Road side seem destined for relegation to Championship One.
