Dewsbury Moor juniors collect awards after super campaign

Brad Frost claimed Moor’s clubman of the year, while Alex Hirst and Callum Brooks shared the most improved player award.

Jay Haywood-Scriven scooped two awards as he won both parents player and players player of the year, while Thomas Berry was player of the year.

Moor’s man of steel award was shared between Callum McGowan and Brad Llewelyn.

Coaches Terry Diskin and Marc Franklin thanked Warrington players Toby and George King for handing out the trophies, and the parents for their help and support during the season.

Dewsbury Moor Under-13 Girls recorded an impressive 40-34 victiory over East Leeds in a sporting contest last Saturday.

Caitlin Beevers produced a superb performance showing elusive and fleet footed running to cross for a terrific five tries.

The full-back also showed her kicking ability as she landed six goals from seven attempts for a personal haul of 32 points.

There were also fine displays by the young Maroon girls including Sian Diskin, Amy Newsome, Chloe Bates, Brooke Chesworth and Caitlyn Johnson.

They offered support to Ellie Frain, who crossed for a brace of tries on her rugby league debut to ensure Moor edged out their plucky opponents.

East Leeds contributed to a good game and loaned the home side Jade Gledhill and Megan Gledhill so the match could go ahead.

The visitors replied with six tries in an end to end contest as Caitlyn Webster crossed for a brace, with Brogan Kennedy and Mia Clarke grabbing one apiece.

Kayleigh Brooke also had an impressive game for the visitors and she crossed for two tries and landed five conversions as East Leeds pushed Moor all the way in a good advert for girls rugby.
