Dewsbury Moor work hard to overcome determined Storm and earn second victory

Moor winger Jacob Flathers out paced the Gateshead defence to score after good work from James Eatherley. Flathers converted.

A defensive error allowed Gateshead to score an unconverted try to make it 6-4 but young hooker Archie Bruce was introduced and had an immediate impact involving a wrap around move to send Max Vernon in at the corner as Moor led 10-4 at half-time.

The second half started with MoM Jamie Samme crashing through after good work from Ashley Boddy to score his first try, with Flathers converting. Samme then burst through the defence for his second try, with Flathers converting.

Poor Moor discipline allowed Gateshead to score a late try but the home side’s defensive resilience proved the vital factor with stand out tackling performances from Bradley Foster, Bart O’Brien and Samme, with support from Toby Richardson, Alex Jeffs and Andy Robinson.

Dewsbury Moor Maroons Under-18s maintained their 100 per cent league record with a 30–0 win away to Cottingham Tigers.

Playing up the hill, Moor were soon on the score sheet with a try from Cammy Adliegh, which he converted.

Hooker Archie Bruce wrong footed the defence to score between the posts before Adliegh crossed for his second.

Playing down the slope, forwards John Bowness, Alex Hollingworth and Caden Willkinson made great yards, with the latter barging over for a try which Adliegh goaled.

MoM Adliegh then scored and converted his second try and this was followed by Brad Samme who showed good pace to cross for a try which Adliegh converted to take his points tally to an impressive 18.
