Brook’s five goal salvo was supported by one from Elliot Brooke as Overthorpe took the spoils 6-5, which boosts their hopes of a top-three finish.

The Premier Division’s top two sides were due to meet last Sunday but St John Fisher’s game with leaders Birstall Cricket Club fell foul to the wet weather, as did many other matches.

Fisher trail Birstall by two points but have four games in hand and now have seven league fixtures, along with two cup semi-finals, to fit in.

Mirfield Town stayed in third place, five points behind Fisher, after they were held to a 2-2 draw by lowly Woodman Batley Carr.

Gibril Bojang hit both Town goals but Woodman earned a precious point through a Nikki Croisdale double, which saw them draw level on 11 points with third-bottom Navigation.

Woodman face bottom side Heckmondwike Sports home and away, either side of a trip to Navigation, in games which will determine whether they climb out of the bottom two.

Woodkirk Valley stay fourth after a James Tesseyman hat-trick, a brace from Downey plus an own goal saw them win 6-3 against Mount Pleasant, who replied through Faisal Adam, Abdullah Mayat and Adam Rawat.

Saville Arms continued their bid for automatic promotion from Division One with a 6-0 win over Birstall St Patricks .

Saville lie in third spot, four points behind leaders Roberttown Rovers, but only two off Scholes Athletic, who are second, while they also have a game in hand on both teams above them.

Saville’s latest win came thanks to goals from Scott Ryan, Patrick Davies, Kieran Corley, Saul Lee, Daniel Damen and Jack Baldwin.

Saville Arms and Roberttown also clash in what should be a cracking Heavy Woollen Challenge Trophy semi-final at Overthorpe this Sunday (ko 11am)

With the top two sides in Division Two not in action, third placed Westgate 23 consolidated their position after Josh Parker, Connor Lyons, Logan Hall, Alex Wilson and Craig Reynolds all netted in a 5-0 win at Snowdon.

Overthorpe Reserves lead the way on 34 points, three ahead of Wire Works and four above Westgate, with the top three all having five games remaining.

Dewsbury United also enjoyed an emphatic win, trouncing bottom side Wike Horse 10-1.

Jamie Beever and Ross Ewart both fired hat-tricks, Michael Thompson hit a brace with Danny Laidlaw and Jack Smith completing Dewsbury’s tally.
