Bunn’s young Terriers defeated by Palace

Frankie Bunn’s Huddersfield Town U21s side fell to their first defeat of the season at the hands of the visiting Crystal Palace on Saturday.

A sublime first half brace from 19-year-old Sullay KaiKai proved enough to send Palace into a commanding two goal lead before half time, as the winger first fired in a long range drive that shot in off the crossbar, before calmly converting a penalty kick that was awarded after he was brought down by goalkeeper Lloyd Allison.

Huddersfield forced themselves back into the game when defender Joe Wilkinson headed home from a corner just nine minutes into the second half to halve the deficit.

The two-goal cushion was restored with just ten minutes remaining however, as midfielder Ghass Sow rounded off a good Palace move and despite a late goal from Huddersfield striker Flo Bojaj that set up a dramatic finish to the contest, Palace held on to earn their second win of the season.

Bunn will now look ahead to Town’s next Professional Development League fixture at Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday 17.
