Off the back of an improved display in midweek against Blackpool the Whites started confidently and went on to have the better of the possession, but were left to rue a lack of a cutting edge.

The result left both sides further off the pace in their bid to reach the play-offs, although a second successive clean sheet pleased Leeds boss Neil Warnock.

Leeds, who fielded the same starting 11 as in midweek, pinned the hosts in their own half for much of the first period with Grant Hanley twice blocking Ross McCormack efforts and also denying Steve Morison.

Blackburn created their first chance when Colin Kazim-Richards collected Danny Murphy’s pass to force a fine save from Paddy Kenny,

McCormack missed a great opportunity two minutes into the second half after being found in space by Morison in the area only to fire wide.

Former Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes then missed for Rovers when firing into the side netting.

The tempo was upped by both sides in the closing quarter as they went in search of a winner and United almost got it from an unexpected corner as Blackburn centre-back Scott Dann came close to putting the ball in his own net, glancing McCormack’s cross behind.

Further half chances followed at both ends with Michael Tonge going closest for Leeds and Rhodes for the hosts, but the game ended goalless with United keeping a clean sheet for the first time in 20 games away from home.
