Norristhorpe and Savile march on in Hodgson Cup

Norristhorpe Reserves and Savile United both progressed to the third round of the Yorkshire Amateur League's Hodgson Cup after securing victories last Saturday.

Norristhorpe earned a 5-1 win away to Morley Amateur, while Savile overcame Morley Town Development 4-1.

Brad Wild and Tom Boocock both went close early on for Norristhorpe before man-of-the-match Sam Everett headed home from a corner and Liam Ramsden then rounded the goalkeeper to slot home and make it 2-0 at half-time.

Wild made it 3-0 early in the second half before Morley pulled a goal back from a free-kick.

Boocock gave Norristhorpe breathing space when he struck the fourth goal before substitute Eliot DiMatteo completed the scoring to send Norristhorpe through.

Savile United had their ti wrapped up by half-time as they led 3-1 and completed the win with a fourth goal after the break.

Goals from Faisal Adam, Fezan Safeer, Isan Safeer and Hamzah Taram helped the Dewsbury side advance to the next round.

Batelians were without leading marksman Rob Bordman as they bowed out, losing 4-0 at home to Gildersome Spurs Reserves.

Batelians were indebted to three top draw saves by their goalkeeper as the first half ended goalless but Spurs continued to dominate after the break and hit four goals without reply to progress.

Littletown bowed out of the Hodgson Cup, going down 7-1 at home to Colton, who led 4-1 at half-time and had Jono Goodwin (two), James Green, Jordan Thackery, Josh Naylor, Danny Coates and Ben Vickers on target.

Dewsbury Rangers produced a superb display to earn a 2-1 win away to Division One leaders Collegians, who fortuitously remain top with 18 points from nine matches.

Rangers move up to fifth place, level with Woodkirk Valley and Amaranth after a terrific win which saw Adam Smith and Arran Wroe on the scoresheet.

Norristhorpe first team maintained their impressive run of form and remain second in Division Three following a 9-0 win away to Leeds Modernians, who slip to the foot of the table.

In-form Danny Mountain led the way with another four goals, while Matt Grift bagged a hat-trick, with Matt Taylor and Brad Vaughan completing the scoring.

Dewsbury Rangers Reserves slipped to third-bottom in Division Four after they went down 3-1 at home to mid-table Shire Academics Thirds, who had man-of-the-match Mark Mignot (two) and Andy Taylor on target.

West End Park suffered a 4-3 defeat at home to 10-man Leeds Modernians Reserves in Division Five.
